The Women's Murder Club

The Women's Murder Club is the central theme and object of the stories. The Women's Murder Club is a group of women who have come together during various murder cases, using their knowledge and resources to help Lindsay capture criminals. The group lives and works in San Francisco, which serves as the backdrop for the novels.

The group came together during an initial investigation being conducted by Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer and her best friend and Medical Examiner Claire Washburn. Over the years other have women joined the group. First is Cindy Thomas a hot shot reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle. Later the group is joined by Yuki Castellano, an attorney who takes the place of Jill, another attorney who had been murdered.
