Sasha

Sasha was a student at Maybeck High School in 2013. Sasha was born a boy named Luke, but Luke questioned his identity and chose to identify as agender – neither male nor female – and took the name Sasha because it was not gender specific. Sasha chose the pronoun “they” over the traditional “he” or “she.” Sasha had a lengthy commute to and from school each day, but they were enthralled with buses and enjoyed the ride. They often worked on homework or read during the ride, and sometimes napped. Sasha was a thoughtful teenager who excelled at school and fit in well with those who were self-proclaimed nerds. Sasha and their friends made up entire languages, reimagined board games, and did well in school. As a group, they were diverse and Sasha fit in with other students who were comfortable with Sasha's choice regarding their identity.
