Chapter 12 Summary

It seems like forever since Dad drove away because this is the longest day of her life, and as she lies in bed listening to Ashley pack and Mom talk to Lydia, she thinks of the quiet that will come later when it is only her and Mom. Ashley calls out to her as Haven passes Ashley's room, and as Haven stands tall and waiting, Ashley asks if she is alright. She is concerned by how Haven treated Mom, claiming it suddenly seems that Haven does not care about anyone but herself. When she claims Haven is being selfish and she asks her to keep whatever is bothering her to herself until after tomorrow, Haven laughs because Ashley has been selfish for the past six months.
