Summary

Chapter 9 "The Furniture is Familiar" is told through Rhett’s point of view. He is back home after a year from college, has broken up with Saff (though they still converse by photos over the phone), and is in daily contact with Zi, his college roommate. His Mom prepares him a homecoming dinner of sorts, and Elliot is supposed to join them but does not show up until after Rhett is ready for bed. Rhett admits to himself that he has been avoiding his father, and that he does not feel completely sorry Val left him considering that Elliot left him and his mother.
