The Master and Tehanu Summary

Spark, Tenar's son, returns to the farm after a six-year absence. Spark learns of his father's death and shows little reaction. Tenar informs him of all that has happened at the farm and makes a bed for him in the attic. For the first few days, Spark makes the rounds of the farm and learns how it has been cared for in his absence. Spark forces his mother to wait on him, causing her to feel embarrassment at his behavior. One afternoon, Townsend the sheep buyer comes to Oak Spring and tells Tenar that Moss is sick and asking for her. Tenar, seeing this as a way to escape the position her son's return has placed her in, immediately makes plans to return to Re Albi with Ged and Therru. The small family leaves the following day...
