Chapter 3 Summary

Ria and Annie go shopping. Annie is 14 years old now. Nora had given Annie a large gift card to buy anything she likes. Annie and Ria cannot agree. Annie becomes frustrated with Ria although Ria offers no advice. Annie thinks Ria has given up. Annie compares Ria to the always well dressed Rosemary. Ria decides to leave Annie to shop on her own while she returns home to wait for the delivery of a sander. Ria is refinishing the floors in the house.

People often visit Tara Road, especially on Saturdays. Danny does not like having so many people in and out of the house. Nora never drops by uninvited nor does she ever stay long, lest she wear out her welcome. Nora often leaves her strange little dog, Pliers, at the house while she goes to the nursing home.
