Chapter 4 Summary

Everyone tells Nichole Burnell that she is lucky because she cannot remember the accident. She is not so sure. Confined to a wheelchair, she feels her life has been divided into two rooms and the accident is the door that divides them. There was everything that existed or occurred before the accident and then there is now. The now that will go on forever in that wheelchair. She will have to learn to live like that. However, she cannot for the life of her remember the details of the accident.

The accident had been in January and it was now late April on the day Nichole returns home from the hospital. She wonders what happened to winter. It was as if she had gone to Florida but in reality, nothing could have been further.....
