Summary

Part two begins in the future with older Charlie talking to his soon-to-be wife, Niamh. In talking about the wedding, she suggests that Charlie invite Fran because she wants to meet her. Charlie retorts, “Aren’t you scared that I might just walk off during the vows?” (97). Niamh replies, “That’s exactly why I want her there. Get a bit of a Four Weddings vibe going on, bit of tension, bit of an edge” (97). Niamh never expresses jealousy, only curiosity, about Charlie’s former love. The two have a strong bond, and it is evident that their relationship is healthy and open.
