Summary

Ava oriented herself by walking toward two palm trees she could see at the edge of the saw grass. She finally saw a house. The structure turned out to be dilapidated and abandoned. She noticed a creek and was headed for it when she saw a clothesline with clothes hanging from it. She realized it must be the work of Mama Weeds. Mama Weeds was the ghost of a black laundry woman said to have been killed because she killed an alligator. Ava jumped when she saw a WPA jacket that she recognized. She also saw Louis’s work shirt and Ossie’s purple skirt. Ava was pulling these clothes from the line when a woman came from around the house asking what she was doing.
