Summary

Six weeks later, Swami’s life has changed dramatically. His father has taken him out the Mission School and put him in the Board High School. Though Swami is popular there thanks to stories of his exploits, he still has not found a true friend. Rajam comes over to Swami’s house, where he proceeds to insult Swami for going to the Board High School, implying it is for less intelligent students, and mocking his classmate for being Muslim. Swami pretends to agree with him, trying to avoid conflict. Rajam also dismisses Swami’s political activism and Swami also lies about this, making Rajam decide to be his friend again.
