Section 6 The Diary pp. 83-114. Summary

Suzanne's next entry in the diary tells of the meeting with Matt's mother, Jean. She is up on the roof working on a TV antenna. It seems his mother has taught Matt to do all the maintenance on the home which is his job. His mother is an artist. His father, a doctor, died when Matt was very young. Matt has a degree in English. The mother and Suzanne get along extremely well.

After leaving his mother they go to a blues club and watch people. Suzanne admits to herself that she has fallen in love. They dance and decide to go to Matt's house to continue dancing.
