Chapter 15 Summary

Alone with Mary a few minutes later, Sara learns the truth about the stolen watch. Apparently Mary's mother told her in confidence that she was at Mrs. Melby's house a few weeks ago when Aunt Willie came over to confront Joe herself. Joe then insisted he did not take the watch. Joe told Aunt Willie, his mother and Mrs. Weicek that one morning while waiting for the school bus while Sara and Mary were in the drug store, some boys began to tease Charlie with some candy they had. One of the boys snuck the watch off of Charlie's wrist, thinking it would be funny to ask Charlie the time and see how upset he got to find the watch missing. However, Sara and Mary came out of the store before they could,.....
