Chapters Twenty-five and Twenty-six Summary

In Chapter Twenty-five, Meredith sits on the front steps and vomits. Nigel is running towards her, shouting into his cellphone. A squad car races up to the condo. Meredith says "Virgin most powerful" before she passes out.

In Chapter Twenty-six, Meredith's mother is arrested and charged with leaving her daughter alone with her father. She does not try to contact Meredith. She indicates that in a way Meredith has given her father to her mother as a gift. There is no one else to compete with her unless it is the baby with which she has just learned she is pregnant. Meredith suspects she will get an abortion.

Although the doctors do not believe Meredith's hit with the Madonna statue had had enough force to make her father a quadriplegic, it apparently did. He is also back...
