Chapters Eleven and Twelve Summary
In Chapter Eleven, Meredith finally reaches her grandmother's house after taking back roads and avoiding her mother's car. Once at her grandmother's house, her grandmother meets her with real concern. Her mother, however, is angry because she left Meredith alone for ten minutes and she ran away. Meredith indicates that her father put moves on her and her mother turns white. After her grandmother ascertains that Meredith has not been raped again, she sends Meredith to the shower and her mother to fix lunch.
