Book 2: Chapter 5-9 Summary

Chapter five begins with the crew on a plane heading for the Antarctic military base. Ashely begins talking to Major Michaelson and learns that he has a brother, Harry, and that they both joined the marines. Major Michaelson admits that he volunteered for the expedition, although he refuses to explain why. They soon arrive at McMurdo. They stop to eat at the base and Jason goes to the bathroom. While in the stall, Khalid comes in and sits in the stall next to Jason. Khalid's bag spills onto the floor and cubes of gray clay fall out onto the floor. Khalid picks them up, not noticing Jason, and puts them back into his bag. Jason is able to take one of the missed packages of clay and puts it into his pocket.
