Chapter 4 Summary

Shawn's dad, Sydney McDaniel, came to see Shawn the week before. Shawn was sitting on the back deck with his mother when his father arrived. Shawn listened to his parents talk for a while until his mother was called into the house by the phone. While waiting, Shawn's father saw a large crow land on the power lines above them. Shawn's father became convinced that the crow would have pecked out Shawn's eyes if he had not been there and he became consumed with the idea of how vulnerable Shawn is. Shawn's father whispered to him that he should rescue him from his pain. Shawn wondered what this meant: perhaps his father was referring to the seizures he has on a daily basis. When Shawn was little, the seizures appeared painful. Then Shawn.....
