Epilogue Summary

Three weeks before the election, Dilbeck suffers a minor heart attack. He still manages to win re-election. He resigns his seat the following day due to health problems. A couple of months later, the House passes the sugar subsidies.

The Flesh Farm, after its closure for the rat infestation and health-code violations, burns down. The Lings are indicted for insurance fraud, but flee to Canada where they open a chain of massage parlors.

Darrell Grant's remains are ultimately identified. A sugar recall results. Rita sues the sugar company, but later drops the suit when she leaves town to avoid animal control officers from taking her prized wolf-dog.

Paul Guber quits his brokerage firm and enrolls in rabbinical school. He never again speaks of his brief engagement to Joyce or the ill-fated night at the Eager Beaver.
