Summary

This short novel is told in the third-person. This story follows multiple perspectives surrounding the events leading up to and after a shooting at a local mall.

The story begins with a flashback from October 1993, in which a little African-American girl named Aisha is walking home with her best friend, Colson, a 17 year old actor. Colson breaks into someone's car and steals a CD. At Aisha's behest, he goes back to return the CD he stole from the car. After some time waiting by the fence they need to climb to return home, Colson runs towards the fence, CD still in hand, as an unnamed cop chases him. The cop shoots him, killing him instantly.

The following time jump takes place between the months of September 2012 to December 2012. Becki and Roger are a gun shooting range, and the two are having an affair...
