Summary

In Chapter 40, Minya scolded Sarai because she felt that Sarai betrayed her and the rest of the godspawn in choosing Eril-Fane over them. Sarai accused Minya of using her for years. Minya demanded that Sparrow, Ruby, and Feral leave the room. Then, Minya left Sarai alone with the ghosts. Sarai reflected on Eril-Fane’s reaction when he had seen her. The ghosts formed a barrier, preventing Sarai from leaving the room and making her feel like a prisoner. She waited until nightfall and released her moths.

In Chapter 41, Lazlo realized that Sarai was proof that magic existed. He felt self-conscious as he readied himself for bed that night. The focus switched to Sarai, who surveyed the city.
