After dinner, 10-year-old Sarah goes home and present day Sarah asks her mother what Helen would say if Sarah called Bruce and asked him to come for a visit. Helen's reaction is fake, and Sarah understands that it isn't possible for Bruce to ever be part of the family in the same way again. As hell and cries over their conversation, Sarah goes up to her room where there is a text message that Bruce will arrive the next evening. The following day, Sarah goes shopping with her mother.
