On Sunday morning, Helen returns from her night shift and makes a steak for breakfast. She tells Sarah that she is okay with her dropping out of school and just wants to have fun as she drinks two vodka cranberries with her meal. Again Helen asks Sarah if anything happened at school, which makes Sarah think of the art show. The reader learns that something happened to her project; it disappeared. But she does not tell the complete story either to the reader or her mother. Instead, she goes for a walk and follows Earl. The Doritos in Earl's beard are like Lichtenstein's dots to Sarah.
