Point of View

Starters by Lissa Price is written entirely in the first person perspective from the point of view of the main character, Callie Woodland. Callie is only fifteen when her parents are taken from her and her younger brother Tyler. Her mother comes in contact with a single spore during the Spore Wars. This segment of the Pacific Rim war included spore bombs which killed most of the adult population excepting the seniors and the youth who had been vaccinated in time. Callie's father is confined just days after his wife is infected and dies, even though he is not infected. Thus begins a life of running, hiding, and coping with the trials of being an only parent to her younger brother.
