Chapter 8, Which Treats of Castles in the Air, and Other Matters Summary

Septimus finds the remains of the broken chariot that had been the witch's inn as well as the bodies of the boy Brevis and his brother Primus. Septimus knows that now he must avenge the murder of his brother. The ghosts of his six dead brothers are there as well, and they agree.
