Chapters 11 and 12 Summary

On the way home, Frank begins to think about Selma. Frank decides to pull off the highway and call her. Frank uses a phone booth next to a drive-in burger place where he can see a man in his car yelling at the carhop. Frank talks to Selma, suggesting he come up and visit her some time, but Selma turns him down. While Frank is speaking to Selma, the man in the car backs up violently, sending a shopping cart crashing into the phone booth. The glass panel shatters across Frank's legs. The carhop comes over to see if Frank is okay. Frank says he is until the carhop points out that his knee is bleeding.
