The Navajo Inn is where the beginning of the book takes place. Largo and several other police officers gather here every week for breakfast along with Joe Leaphorn. This is also where Leaphorn is shot at the end of the first chapter.

Window Rock

Window Rock is the town located in the Navajo Nation where the majority of Chee and Bernie’s investigation takes place.

Leaphorn’s/Louisa’s House

When they begin the investigation, both Bernie and Chee investigate Leaphorn’s home, trying to find any possible evidence while also looking for Louise.

Chee spends a good deal of time working at the Navajo Police Station. It’s here that he interrogates Jackson. Bernie also spends a little bit of time here at the start of the book when Largo tells her that she can’t be assigned to the case.
