Summary

Chapter 15 - Bernie goes to the Double X ranch to talk to the owner, Slim Jacobs. She asks about Ellie and he tells her that the two had a romantic past. She was supposed to meet with him earlier in the week, but she stood him up. He hasn’t been able to get in touch with her since, which he admits is odd. When asked about Jackson, Jacobs states that he’s a good worker and he doesn’t believe that he would be involved in anything like Leaphorn’s shooting. He does tell Bernie that Leonard can usually be found performing in the rodeo, and that Jackson typically acts as his manager.
