Summary

Chapter 3 - Chee and Bernie arrive at the marketplace where the car was spotted. The car belongs to an older woman, Mrs. Benally. Mrs. Benally is uncooperative at first, but Bernie is able to calm her down and talk to her. Mrs. Benally says the car was dropped off by her son, Jackson. Jackson is 19 years old and goes to the nearby college. She says that he used to have trouble with gangs when he was younger, but he’s turned his life around since then. Bernie asks about Jackson's friends. Mrs. Benally tells her that he’s friends with someone at college named Leonard Nez, who is nicknamed Lizard. She doesn’t know anything more about him.
