Chapter 18, The Hive Queen, Summary

Miro is left with permanent brain damage, unable to move or speak properly. During his recovery, Jane takes a special liking to Miro and has Ender introduce them. Although jealous, Ender is glad Jane has found a new friend. Ender has decided to release the hive queen on Lusitania and is waiting for Novinha to find a way to keep the Descolada from affecting the buggers before releasing them. Ender reveals to Olhado that he is Ender the Xenocide and finds that no one on Lusitania judges him for his past mistakes. Valentine calls through the ansible and tells Ender that she has heard about his troubles and that she and her family are coming to be with him. Ender sends Miro to meet Valentine in order to give Miro the space he thinks the boy needs...
