Chapter 7, The Ribeira House, Summary

Ender follows Olhado to his home and is immediately attacked by Grego, Olhado's younger brother. Ender grabs the boy, strips him of the knife he holds, and picks him up in a sort of cattle hold. Ela enters the room and insists that he let the boy go, but Ender refuses. Ender sits in a chair with Grego across his lap, his hands and legs still caught behind his back. Ender announces that he is there to see Novinha, but Ela suggests he leave since their mother is not home. Ender refuses to leave. Another brother, Quim, comes into the room and argues with Ela for letting Ender into the house and abusing Grego and then disappears into a back bedroom. The two other children, Olhado and Quara, watch the excitement from a safe distance. Miro enters...
