Chapter 3, Libo, Summary

The mayor, Bosquinha, arrives at the Zenador station and takes control of the situation. Pipo's body is photographed and removed from behind the fence while Novinha and Libo are left to write out reports regarding the events of the day. Libo is then taken to the arbiter's house to spend the evening caring for his mother while Novinha's grief is overlooked by many of the officials asking questions and investigating Pipo's death. Novinha watches these people search for a reason for Pipo's death while the hologram of her tests remains above her own terminal. Novinha knows it is what Pipo saw in her work that has caused his death and she feels personally responsible. Novinha goes home with Bosquinha who finally sees her grief, but escapes as soon as she can in order to destroy her work. However, Novinha cannot destroy...
