Part 2, Chapter 11 Summary

Milkman drives a beat up old car he bought from someone's yard down to Shalimar in order to follow Pilate's path with the gold. Then, through a stroke of luck, he happens to break down right in the middle of the tiny little town, which he would have missed entirely otherwise.

Since he cannot go anywhere, Milkman enters the General Store to get a soda and, much to his surprise, the man working behind the counter has a message for him. In fact, Guitar had passed through previously and, when he did, he left Milkman the message, "Your day has come." At first, Milkman is not sure what to make of the message, but as he takes a walk around outside, he decides that Guitar must be in trouble and he needs.....
