Part 2, Chapter 10 Summary

Milkman travels to Danville, where his father grew up, in order to search for the lost gold in the cave. His first task is to find Circe but he does not know where to look. Thus, he asks a man on the street and the man points him in the direction of Rev. Cooper.

After a warm greeting when the Rev. Cooper and his wife learn that Milkman is Macon's son, the Reverend and Milkman sit down to talk. Milkman explains that he is looking for Circe, the woman who protected his father and his aunt when they were threatened, but he carefully leaves out his real purpose in his trip: the hunt for the gold. Unfortunately, Rev. Cooper reports that Circe is dead and the house she used to live in.....
