Part 1, Chapter 7 Summary

In order to get away from the city, Milkman tells his father that he wants to leave for a year so that he can spend some time living by himself. Of course, Macon resists the idea, since he wants to keep his son close and continue to teach him the business, but Milkman is resolved to go and he argues with Macon in the hope of swaying his father's opinion.

However, as Milkman argues his case, he mentions a green sack that is hanging from the ceiling of Hagar's house. When Macon hears this, he is suddenly excited, though he does not explain why. Instead, he tells his son to grab some food for the both of them and meet him in a park later.

Eventually, Macon meets his son at the park.....
