Book III Chapters 7 and 8 Summary

Gabe finishes building the boat. He even creates a paddle to steer the boat. He plans to test the boat for the first time alone, but his friends end up going with him. While the boat does float, it doesn't work properly. Jonas arrives at the banks of the river and tells the boys to go home to get ready for dinner.

At home, Jonas tells Gabe about Trade Mart. Trade Mart is something Trademaster ran in the village, where he traded people one of their characteristics or traits for something the people really wanted. Jonas says this is why he banished Trademaster from the village. Kira and Jonas also tell Gabe about their powers—Jonas's ability to see beyond and Kira's to do things with her hands.

They both say they are losing their powers...
