Pages 56-94 Summary

Crab and Jimmy arrive in Chicago and stop at a bar where Crab is apparently known by the waitress. Jimmy makes a few phone calls and then takes Jimmy to get a room in a boarding house before going to the home of Mavis, an old lover of Crab's. Mavis has a son named Frank who is a boxer. When Mavis goes to work, Crab and Jimmy go to watch Frank work out. When they leave, Crab sends Jimmy back inside to learn when Mavis will be home from work. Frank is rude to Jimmy and threatens to beat him up. Back outside, Crab tells Jimmy he has a job for the night and instructs him to return to the rooming house.

Jimmy has trouble finding his way back to the rooming house and then finds himself disgusted by the dirt...
