Part 2, Chapter 16 Summary

What Halley remembers of the accident is the cold, red lights and Macon holding her hand, apologizing and telling her he loves her and will be right there. The ambulance takes Halley to he hospital, and she gives them Scarlett's phone number as her contact. The doctor tells Halley that she has a sprained wrist, back lacerations, a cut eye and two bruised ribs, but he says she is very lucky. Scarlett comes to the room, looking scared, and tells Halley that Macon isn't there, even though the police released him an hour ago. As Halley drifts off to sleep, she tells Scarlett he must be on the way, and Scarlett sadly tells her she is sorry. When Halley awakes, her mother and father are in her room, and her mother.....
