Chapter 42 Summary
Hiro finds a flat spot off the road outside of Port Sherman, Oregon, and connects to the Metaverse. The Librarian states that Inanna had many interactions with Enki. In the Sumerian myth, Inanna went to a watery fortress in Eridu where Enki stored and protected the me. Inanna convinced Enki to give her the me, and Enki agreed, mainly because he was drunk and succumbed to her charms. Hiro tells The Librarian that the Raft is the watery fortress where he keeps all of his me, and Juanita is Inanna, going there to retrieve it. The Librarian relates another myth, wherein Inanna travels to the underworld under false pretenses, but the judges of the underworld see through Inanna's intentions and condemn her to death. When Inanna does not return after three days, her messenger goes to the gods for help, but only Enki...
