In Chapter 17 Alex arrives by seaplane to the hospital. It is located in a very remote part of Australia in the rainforest area. Although the compound is surrounded by an electrified fence, the doctor tells Alex that it really is not needed. If anyone were to escape, the remoteness of the location would ensure a quick death. He also offers some hope in that Alex would be well cared for to preserve his health, and thereby the quality of the organs that will be removed as needed.
