Summary

The next chapter is Shining Armor, 1988. Detective Inspector Gordon Edmonds of the Thames Valley Police is walking down Westwood Road as he looks for Slade Alley. Gordon is following up on a tip by a man named Fred Pink. Fred was in the alley nine years earlier when Nathan and Rita disappeared. Rita asked him if he knew where Lady Slade House was located. Fred was hit by a car just a few minutes after that encounter and has only recently woke. He looked through old newspapers to find out what he'd missed, which is why Gordon is now looking for Slade Alley. The general belief is that Rita and Nathan ran away to escape financial troubles and Gordon doesn't believe he'll find anything.
