Summary

In Chapter 71, Ochiai prepared for the 6:30 a.m. announcement. He looked visibly refreshed. Ochiai announced the origin of the calls: both came from inside Genbu City. The reporters though expected more information, and Ochiai became once again dejected as they asked more questions he could not answer. He suddenly seemed to pass out on the desk at which he sat. Mikumo shouted for an ambulance to be called. Mikami’s staff rushed to take care of Ochiai. Mikami demanded that the reporters stop their heckling, accusing them of acting like a "lynch mob” (478). He suspended announcements for the time being but added that there would be another session at 8 a.m.

The reporters were collectively demanding that someone more important come speak. Some also uttered the nickname they had given to Mikami: Gargoyle. Mikami’s staff tried to escort Ochiai from the room...
