Summary

In Chapter 56, Mikami made his announcement in the Press Room. He told the reporters the identity of the driver, including her familial connection. He also told them the name of the injured pedestrian and informed them that he had passed away. Akikawa stood and announced the press’s inability to trust Mikami. Mikami berated Akikawa and continued to give a copious number of details concerning the deceased pedestrian’s life. He read the entirety of the report given to him by Kuramae. When finished, Mikami asked the press to consider abandoning their boycott of the commissioner’s visit.
