Summary

In Chapter 18, Mikami arrived at the diner. Azusa was already inside, so Mikami apologized for being late. They talked through lunch, before Azusa suddenly asked Mikami if he came to ask Azusa to put a stop to the press’s protest. Mikami was surprised and informed him that he was correct in his assumption. Mikami asked if he might convince his staff of reporters to leave the written protest with a lower power, such as the Secretariat. Azusa mentioned that he might talk with Akikawa, but made no promises. Mikami informed Azusa of the current police questioning of the CEO of Hakkaku Construction. Mikami believed he had “closed the deal,” trading information for support against the reporters (126).
