Section 13: Chapter 46 Summary

In Chapter 46, it rains all night in Memphis but stops right before Chiquita stops in front of her momma's house. She rereads Inda's note because the words have become her strength. Weeks ago, Chiquita told Brown about the first time she came to Memphis and felt betrayed when he suggested she may have come on too strong, so she left him and returned to Raymond where she was comfortable since she felt nothing. She did not realize how much she missed Brown and Inda until she saw Inda at the mall. The way they are as a family makes her realize how much she is not part of a family, and she made an excuse to leave because she did not feel needed.
