Section 12: Chapter 43-45 Summary

In Chapter 43, Valerie, Daniel, Brown, Chiquita, Michael and Inda hang out during the next couple months. Chiquita refuses to talk to Inda about her mother anymore, so Inda drops the subject. Inda moves in with Valerie to help with bills. Valerie studies a lot and spends a few evenings each week with Daniel, but she eventually stops spending much time with him or even letting him come to her house. Walter begins calling Valerie and begging to reconcile, and Valerie thinks about it since he is her husband. Chiquita begins making excuses for why she cannot come around, and Inda can tell Brown is hurt because he is in love. After spending an evening with Michael, Inda returns home to find Valerie sleeping on the couch. Valerie wakes, rushes upstairs and does not return. When Inda hears Valerie whimpering...
