Section 2: Chapter 5-8 Summary

In Chapter 5, Valerie reaches her sister's apartment in Diamond Bar fifteen minutes after leaving home. Inda, half asleep, opens the door and complains about Valerie's early arrival. Valerie tells Inda to get dressed and get in the car because they are going to Venice since she needs to talk to someone. In Chapter 6, Valerie and Inda park and walk the half mile to Muscle Beach and find a spot in the sand. While Inda naps, Valerie thinks about her choices. She had quit college during her senior year to follow Walter when he thought he had a shot at the NFL, but she never threw it in his face when he did not make the teams because love made her do that.
