Summary

In Chapter 6, the band spends a few days wandering from bar to bar, listening to the other musicians and trying to get work. When Patrick is offered a solo position, he aggressively turns it down. Simon is furious and harsh with Patrick, claiming that insulting bar owners will get them nowhere. The others try to defend Patrick, as he is only just a boy. They return to the saloon where they spent their first night: the Windjammer. There, they see the flute player once again. His name is Peter Hendrick. Peter is very friendly and talented. He is leaving Galveston for Houston and warns them that Galveston has horrible hurricanes and yellow fever. Damon is secretly relieved Peter is leaving so that they have less competition.
