Summary

Chapter 14 describes an incident where Chaurisse and Dana, by chance, happen to run into one another. Following the death of Miss Bunny, Laverne and James are deeply depressed, and Chaurisse, attempting to put a bit of space between them, begins to regularly wander the mall. Following Miss Bunny’s death, Laverne has now let Chaurisse “augment” her hair for the first time, which feels like a significant step in growing up for Chaurisse. With new confidence, Chaurisse is at the makeup counter at the mall, and she decides to shoplift makeup. She notices a beautiful girl next to her (who Chaurisse describes as “silver”) who is also attempting the same thing. However, they both notice a security camera overhead, and quickly empty out their bags of the makeup. The manager of the store then confronts them, but they are able to show that...
