In the first chapter, we are introduced to Siddhartha, the main character of the story. Handsome, strong, and intelligent, Siddhartha is a poor young man who lives in India. Those around him, especially his friend Govinda, love and admire Siddhartha and seem content with their lives. However, unlike the others, Siddhartha is unhappy.
