Lyssa wakes Will the next morning to tell him that Radford is gone. He left while they were sleeping, taking the twelve foot wooden dingy and most of their food. At first they don't understand why he would leave the safety of the schooner for a twelve foot dingy, but then they realize the truth. They are sinking, and Radford has abandoned them. Luke remembers the previous day and how Radford had suddenly gone silent. That was when he had made his decision to leave them. They realize that they have few choices. They have to continue to pump, and buy themselves as much time as possible. Lyssa believes she can dry out the engine and reassemble it so that it starts. J.J. refuses to participate...
