Summary

In Chapter 1 an isolated girl has just been informed that she will be receiving a cellmate. This will be the first person that she has talked to in almost a year as she remembers that she was put in the cell a long time ago by The Reestablishment, a political group that is trying to help improve society. The girl's only companion is her notebook, but she has to use her pen sparingly as it is the only one she has. After falling asleep, she is startled by the new roommate, and she is alarmed to find that it is a boy. She jumps off of her bed and into a corner to avoid him.
